I was once in your spot. Unhappy in a career I felt had run its course.
I knew there was something else out there for me, something more fulfilling, but I couldn't figure out how to find it. Everyone I spoke with treated my career change like a job change. They said to look online for new careers that use my skills. Network. Send out resumes.
It didn't work.
Because career change is frequently about skills and values that aren't being fulfilled. Many times people are good at their careers (they have the skills), but their careers aren't fulfilling. It makes no sense to move the skills same used in an unfulfilling career to a new career. The key is to know what skills are not being used and what values aren't being honored.

What's In The Program
As you might have guessed, I love travel, and I've given "60 Day to What's Possible" a globetrotting theme. Each step reflects something special about one of the seven continents. At the end, not only will you have taken a metaphorical journey around the world, you'll have created three solid career options to explore.
Step 1. North America is as varied and multi-faceted as you are, from the rocky coast of Maine to the golden plains of the Midwest, over the rugged Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, from the icy north of Canada to the wildlife preserves of Costa Rica. In our first step we’ll discover what makes you unique, makes you tick and your priorities for what’s important in your life.
Step 2. Like the Asian concept of Yin and Yang with its principles of complementary and interdependent forces, your ideas about career and life are intertwined. In this step, you’ll discuss your thoughts on the concepts of life and career.
Step 3. With more than 51 countries, Europe offers endless opportunities for exploration and discovery. In your Life Spark Journal, you’ll explore your activities and interactions over the next few weeks, noting which ones lift you up, and which make you feel meh.
Step 4. Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is home to some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world. In step four, we’ll use the AEIOU system and do a deep dive to help you better understand what made your top Sparks special for you.
Step 5. Early explorers to Antarctica had to be resourceful in order to survive in the extreme elements. In this step you’ll be resourceful as well and take your top Sparks from Step 4 and use mind mapping to create three new opportunities for the future.
Step 6. Africa has deserts, rainforests, mountains and bustling cities. It’s also large enough to hold India, China, the U.S. and much of Europe. To cross a continent this large and varied requires a plan. In Step 6 you’ll create 3-5 year plans for each opportunity from Step 5.
Step 7. On my first trip to South America, I made some great friends, really connecting with those I met along the way. I also learned I wanted to return soon. In our final step you’ll start making connections out in the world and growing your understanding of your three opportunities, eventually choosing one (or a variation of one) for your next career.
(I have a secret: Once we're past Covid, I have some trips planned to very cool destinations so "60 Day" participants can deepen their learning and increase personal growth. I look forward to seeing you in these travels! )
